Tulsa Public Schools’ Parent Resource Center (525 E. 46th Street N. in the Alcott building) is expanding the services and resources it provides to students, parents, and families. The center is open Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and available services include food and clothing assistance for families with children ages three and younger; financial counseling; mental health services, and supports for parents of students with special needs.
The Parent Resource Center opened in September 2019 as a result of a partnership between Tulsa Public Schools and the North Tulsa Community Education Task Force, which was chaired by the Rev. M.C. Potter. The district’s collaboration with the North Tulsa Community Education Task Force was also a driving force behind the expansion of Monroe Demonstration Academy to serve as the McLain feeder pattern middle school.
“Our work with the North Tulsa Community Education Task Force continues to be transformational for students and families. We are excited that the Parent Resource Center has been such a strong resource for families, and I am particularly grateful to the Reverend Potter and the task force for being a champion of the Parent Resource Center,” said Superintendent Deborah Gist.
The Parent Resource Center provides the following services - some by appointment only - as of November 2022:
- Community computer lab
- Support with student enrollment
- Financial counseling
- In-person or virtual mental health and addiction services
- Assistance with diapers, baby formula, food, and clothing
- Support services and training for parents of students with special needs

Parent Resource Center Manager Marla Mayberry said: “This is just the start of our service expansion! By the end of the school year, we will be adding new programs including English-language classes for families, support services for job-seekers, and college and career help for students in our community. We look forward to continuing to expand the ways we serve families in North Tulsa.”
Parent Resource Center services are made possible through support from community partner organizations including the Birth through Eight Strategy for Tulsa, Catholic Charities, ConnectFirst, Emergency Infant Services, Family and Children’s Services, the Financial Empowerment Center, Madison Strategies Group, and the Oklahoma Parents Center.
